While AI excels at helping engineers write code, it creates a new challenge – the code still needs human review. Engineering teams face pressure to ship quickly without sacrificing quality. CodeAnt AI offers a solution that uses AI to streamline the review process, reducing review time by 50%, which is particularly valuable as AI-generated code becomes more prevalent.
Today, CodeAnt AI announced a $2M seed round, led byY Combinator, Brian Shin, andUncorrelated Ventures, with participation from DeVC, Transpose Platform, andEntrepreneur First. This first institutional round values the company at $20 million.
The funding will expand the engineering and business development teams and scale CodeAnt AI’s code quality and application security platform. The investment arrives as engineering teams face mounting pressure to ship faster.
CodeAnt AI was founded in 2023 byAmartya JhaandChinmay Bharti, two engineers with extensive experience building and scaling software systems at major technology companies. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California, with an additional presence in Bengaluru, India. Amartya Jha, who serves as CEO, previously led platform and infrastructure teams at Zeta and ShareChat, where he managed systems handling billions of requests daily. Chinmay Bharti, the CTO, is an IIT Bombay graduate with a master’s in artificial intelligence and expertise in high-frequency trading systems and AI startups.
The inspiration for CodeAnt AI emerged from the founders’ firsthand struggles with maintaining code quality and security in fast-growing, complex codebases. As their teams and products scaled, manual code reviews became increasingly slow, repetitive, and error-prone. This led to mounting technical debt and higher risks of bugs and security vulnerabilities reaching production. Recognising these widespread challenges in the software industry, Jha and Bharti developed a solution to automate and enhance the code review process using artificial intelligence.
“As AI-driven coding becomes widespread, the real bottleneck isn’t writing code — it’s reviewing it,” said Amartya Jha, Co-founder and CEO of CodeAnt AI. “Today, when a developer submits a change request, it often sits idle for hours or days awaiting peer review. And even when a reviewer picks it up, they rarely have the full context of the code change. This is a critical risk point: most software bugs and vulnerabilities slip through during peer review, when issues could have been caught early and cheaply.”
CodeAnt AI bridges a future where code is rapidly created and confidently deployed, enabling teams to meet business demands efficiently. By automating the most tedious and error-prone aspects of code review, the platform allows engineering teams to focus on building new features and delivering value, rather than getting bogged down in maintenance and bug-fixing.
What sets CodeAnt AI apart is its underlying technology. The company built a proprietary language-agnostic AST engine that understands how different parts of a codebase interconnect, enabling it to identify issues that isolated code reviews would miss. The platform also incorporates data from major security databases and allows companies to establish rules based on specific needs. For security-conscious organisations, CodeAnt AI can operate entirely within their infrastructure, ensuring code never leaves their environment.
“In today’s AI-driven environment, enterprises need solutions that either replace ageing systems or deliver clear productivity gains,” added Amartya Jha. “CodeAnt AI is built to do both — helping companies move faster and stay competitive without compromising security or code quality.”
CodeAnt AI has quickly gained industry recognition, securing backing from Y Combinator and other investors, and serving diverse clients from early-stage startups to large unicorns. The company maintains high security and compliance standards, including SOC 2 and HIPAA certifications.
CodeAnt AI’s platform uses large language models and rule-based engines to analyse code for various issues, including anti-patterns, dead or duplicate code, overly complex functions, security vulnerabilities, and insufficient documentation.
The system detects these problems and can automatically suggest or apply fixes, enforce clean code practices, and optimise code for performance and scalability. By integrating with popular developer tools and workflows, such as IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, and pull requests, CodeAnt AI provides real-time feedback and one-click solutions, helping developers maintain high standards without slowing down their work.
CodeAnt AI’s platform integrates seamlessly with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps, providing developers instant feedback on their code across more than 30 programming languages. More importantly, it doesn’t just identify problems – it suggests fixes that developers can apply with a single click, transforming hours-long reviews into efficient, five-minute sessions.
For companies racing to release products, this means fewer delays and higher-quality code. It also brings significant cost savings, fixing issues during code reviews costs ten times less than addressing them later during CI/CD or after production deployments.
Tom Blomfield, Partner at Y Combinator, added: “With more and more code being generated by AI, code review has never been more important. CodeAnt fits into your CI/CD pipeline and ensures that only high-quality code makes it into production. Not AI-generated slop!”
Meanwhile, early investor at HubspotBrian Shin, Managing Partner for VitalStage Ventures, commented: “CodeAnt AI is redefining one of the most critical — and often overlooked — parts of modern software development: the code review. The bottleneck has shifted to validation in a world where AI is rapidly democratising code generation. CodeAnt’s platform slashes review time by over 50%, ensuring not just speed, but quality, security, and reliability at scale. This leap empowers engineering teams to ship faster while catching issues earlier — a foundational advantage in today’s software-driven economy.”
Pricing starts at $10 per developer per month for the basic AI code review features, with a complete package including code quality, security, and compliance tools available for $40 per developer per month.
As AI transforms how code is written, CodeAnt AI bridges a future where code can be rapidly created and confidently deployed. The founders envision a world where AI helps developers write code faster and ensures that every line shipped to production is secure, efficient, and ready for the real world, giving engineering teams the confidence to move at the speed their businesses demand.
