Being at the cusp of Industry 4.0, Indonesia witnessed a record 11.8 million cyberattacks in just the first quarter of 2022. The archipelago even suffered the highest number of ransomware attacks throughout Southeast Asia that accounted to 1.3 million.
The situation went few notches above the country’s threshold when attacks on Indonesian FIs in 2022 became 252% above the global average. Moreover, it has been estimated that the large and mid-sized companies in the country have to incur losses up to $6.7 million and $33,500 respectively.
In the aftermath, Indonesia’s National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) has been deployed to create 121 computer security incident response teams (CSRIT) by 2024 and the country is emerging as the fastest growing cyber security market in the world.
