Sunrise Group lands 29M to scale digital sleep clinic in the US

The Sunrise Group, a Belgium-based sleep health company, has raised $29 million to accelerate the national rollout of its digital sleep clinic, Dreem Health. The fresh capital, led byEurazeowith backing from Amazon’s Alexa Fund and other investors, brings the company’s total funding to $58 million.
Dreem Health provides video consultations, diagnostics, and personalised treatment for sleep conditions like sleep apnea. The service is already active in 49 U.S. states and accepts coverage from insurers including UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, and Medicare. With the new funding, Sunrise aims to ensure broader access to affordable, clinically guided sleep care.
Sunrise first gained recognition for its small, chin-mounted sensor that tracks mandibular jaw movements, offering a precise way to monitor sleep patterns. This innovation set the company apart from traditional wearables and laid the foundation for its expansion into clinical services.
In 2024, the company acquired Dreem Health, integrating its digital clinic model with Sunrise’s hardware expertise. This combination allows patients to move seamlessly from diagnosis to treatment, bridging gaps that often delay proper care. Sunrise also recently completed a study involving 848 patients in France, underscoring its ambition to expand internationally.
The company first developed an FDA-cleared mandibular movement sensor, a lightweight at-home diagnostic device for sleep apnea that has been validated in peer-reviewed studies and endorsed by leading sleep experts.
Sleep disorders affect more than 70 million Americans, yet access to treatment remains severely limited. On average, there is only one sleep specialist available for every 43,000 patients, leaving millions without timely support. Untreated sleep issues not only disrupt daily life but also increase the risk of chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
By combining telemedicine, advanced diagnostics, and insurance coverage, Dreem Health aims to ease the bottleneck in sleep care. Its approach offers a more scalable model compared to traditional sleep labs, which are costly and geographically limited. The company also plans to channel part of its funding into research and product development, aiming to improve both accuracy in diagnosis and effectiveness in treatment.
Competitors like Snap Diagnostics, Blackstone Medical Services, and BetterNight are also pushing forward in this space, signaling a broader movement toward modernising sleep healthcare. However, Sunrise’s blend of hardware innovation and clinical services gives it a distinct advantage in reaching underserved patients at scale.
