In 2023, Visa expects to see an increase in issuer migration to eight-digit Bank Identification Numbers (BINs). And, effective April 2023, as returned BINs are reassigned, Visa will allow BINs with the same six-digit prefix to be utilized in the reassigned eight-digit BIN. Visa will host two merchant-focused webinars in February 2023 developed to review potential impacts and ensure merchant readiness to support the eight-digit BIN. Acquirers should inform their merchants and encourage them to register for this event.
